I bought a massive curtain fabric sample pack which was in the cheap box at this massive carpet and curtain shop.

I've taken it apart best I can to save the most fabric, and now I want to take the sticky labels off the fabric. The trouble is that the material is this rough canvas stuff with long furry velvet like patterns on it and the glue from the labels are very sticky.

Any recommendations on what to soak the fabric parts with the labels in before removing? I don't want to bleach the colours in any way.
