Dresses and plushies, oh my!
Aug. 11th, 2006 11:58 pmWell, I have been busy. Besides worked 72 hours in 6 days, going to a convention for 4, then working a 16 hour shift this week I've made three dresses, two pairs of PJ pants (which are sadly unphotographed right now because I need to fit my boyfriend's pair when I see him tommorow) and a really cute plush toy. And bought more fabric.. sigh, I'm addicted.
Without further ado...

This was my cosplay at Otakon.. I went as Mima from Perfect Blue. I bought the gloves and stockings and made the rest. The dress was fun with lots of ruffles- there is a cute bow in the back, but I don't have a good picture of it.
The shoes were covered in electrical tape and I made a bow on the front, but I only wore them one day. They *killed* my feet. I literally could not wear them any more, and it made me sad. They're cute! Much cuter than before the tape, actually.

Sadly, this is the best picture I have of the other dress. I'm kneeling in the front, pink dress.
It's kinda gothic lolita inspired, made from a vintage vogue pattern. It has lace on the bottom hem, and pockets! It doesn't have a zipper, so I added some lace as ties on the back to make it fit. The fabric was on sale for.. 1$ a metre, I think.

This I made the other day from Christmas fabric on sale from last year. Buy 1 metre, get 2 free!

Back view. The zipper.. I went to Wal-Mart to get it because it was the only place open.
I SPENT 77$ ON CRAFT SUPPLIES! HELP!
The pattern had a wrap.. It turned out too tight to close with a brooch (I broke a brooch finding out.. oh well, cost me a dollar. I'll be able to fix it, I think) so I made a tie with some ribbon I bought. I kinda like the wrap, but I kinda don't. Undecided.

But I love the dress with the gloves from my costume!
.. darnit, I forgot my camera restarts my computer when I attatch it. Thank goodness for LJ autosave.
Anyway, continuing...
I made a stuffed mint candy for my friend Candice, aka Candy. It was her birthday and I just got her something little because I had no money at the time and didn't have a decent sewing machine or anything.. so I made this for her now.

... it's adorable. That's all I can say.

Hand for size reference. I got a fabric marker for the black and pink cheeks. They're really fun to use, I'm gonna go nuts with them... I can tell. The red is fabric paint. It took awhile but was totally worth it.

All wrapped up! It has a tag with a birthday message on it for her, too. As my mother said, "she'll explode!" yeah, she loves cute things.
I'll post the matching boy/girl PJ pants when I finish and get pictures of them. Yay!
