Aug. 13th, 2006 09:34 pmOne day 2 years ago I walked into a quilt shop in Wytheville, VA. I must have been somewhat delusional as I had been hiking on the Appalachian Trail for many days. I saw a pattern for a purse and thought "I can make that". I had just received my first sewing machine a few months earlier and had lofty goals. The pattern sat around for 2 years (and through two more trips to the Appalachian Trail) until one day about a month ago I thought "I can make that" and (after much frustration) I did.
Behold! The first purse I ever made.

Made with the Amy Butler Reversible Swing Bag Pattern for my dear friend Kat. She likes her bike.

close up on bike. i made the stencil free hand style.

oh and did you say the bag is REVERSIBLE??? why yes, yes i did.

i see myself meeting amy butler in some sort of heated romantic scene where first i kiss her then i slap her. i thank her for her great pattern, but DAMN it was hard.
