Aug. 14th, 2006 11:26 pmI made some things for my girlfriend--our three-year anniversary was in June, but I haven't gotten around to posting until now. They're Nintendo-themed things, because that's just what you get when you hang around me for three years.

Aren't they just precious? I made them out of Fimo, painted them, and varnished them. In my sheer excitement I took pictures of the little buggers before I added the earring hooks, but what can you do?
I think I stole the idea of polymer clay Nintendo mushrooms from another craftgrrl. Thank you, whoever you are!

Makar was the most fun to make ever. He's all fleece with the exception of the back of his leaf-face, which is felt to make it sturdier. He comes complete with a (rather lumpy) cello and bow; I wanted to add velcro or magnets to his wittle stumpy hands so he could hold onto them, but I couldn't find my velcro or magnets. Whoops.
I had many, many pictures of him, but I managed to accidentally delete most of them. Again, whoops! He has a little tail in the back, so he's the exact right shape to balance on your head and carry around just like Link. Am I lame? Yes, I'm lame. But he's so cute!
Then I made some things for me, because I'm my own best customer:

My dad found a ton of this fantastic polka dot fabric at a yard sale--it has a bit of a stretch and like, flannel backing? Anyway, it's wonderful, and he was so proud of himself for finding it. Everyone was pleased!
I'm thinking about adding some little black buttons between the boobs, because the seam just sitting there kind of bothers me.

This is one of those things that worked better in my head, because I fail at patchwork. I have a bunch of different colors of corduroy and I decided to make a frankenskirt, but it came out... lumpy. I have to share it with you all anyway, though, because it took too much of my time to just languish in my closet! It was really relaxing to sew, too, surprisingly enough. I see why people quilt.
And a question: Does anyone know of any decent patterns for pants that come in small sizes? I'm a size 1 and patterns like to claim that they're made for me, but then I open them up and the smallest hip size is 36". Normally I just make my own patterns entirely, but I've never made pants before and I don't really have any pairs that I could take apart and study--all of mine either fit funny, have unneccessarily complicated flies, or are too new/well-fitting to consider dissecting.
Thanks!
