Is it realistic?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to raise money to take a trip with my boyfriend to South-East Asia. We'll be leaving in April next year, so we don't have a lot of time. I've been crafting as a casual hobby. I was thinking of maybe trying to sell in craft shows, at work and through friends:

a) jewelry. I already have lots of beads and people have often commented on my or my boyfriend's creations.

b) pins. I don't yet have a pin machine, so I would have to buy it and all the material. My boyfriend and I would create our own designs for the pins.

c) A happy combination of both.

I don't expect to pay for my whole trip with this, but do you think we would make enough money to make it worthwile the time and effort? Would the pin making machine end up being a lost?

Update: I knew you guys would give good advice! Thank you. We will not be buying the pin machine, but instead try to find out if a friend will lend it to us or if we can rent one. I'll probably be posting the results soon. :)
