hrmmm basket lamp...

So I'm thinking about making a lamp out of this star shape basket but  I don't have a shade for it and I think I'm completely confused on what to do with the items I have. I wanna spray paint the basket black and then maybe make/buy a lampshade with little stars on it or something to that nature. So here's the question anyone got an idea as to how to make a lampshade? 

Also any tips on how to make a basket out of these items:

The box tells me how to put the lamp kit thing together and I was thinking of maybe putting a star on top of the shade...

And funky star basket I bought at Goodwill for $1
