I made this for a swap in the [profile] ljsecretpal2Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The fins and tail are actually quilting, and mildly shaped. I sew them so they they would pull to the back and curl like they were in use.

The lining was handsewn in after both were fully constructed. Unfortunately, they show below. XD

I made the lining so that it would contain 2 sides. One smaller pocket for small works in progess, like socks and scarves, or knitting supplies; the other larger for lots of yarn, or blankets.

In the larger pocket, I made a smaller case for needles with varying pockets. It's open ended to accomodate any length of needles, including circs. (My buddy, [livejournal.com profile] diaphragm, is a big circ user.)

To make the handles, I got to do some knitting. YAY! I made two thick I-cords from woolease to reinforce the handles and pad them a bit. I think they turned out the best of the bag.

Anyway, I hope my secret buddy really enjoys her bag! I'm totally making one for myself now...
