Everyone, meet Jam

This is Jam, she's a little kitty doll that I knit for a friend for her birthday. She was the first of what appears to be heading towards a largeish ongoing family of creatures, knit from the yarn that was originally slated to become projects I never finished, or the remnants from those that I did. As it fully embodies my mother's "waste not want not" mentality, I've decided to call them the Wastenots.

This was especially fun because I knit her entirely without plan or pattern... I just made her up as I went along, and sculpted her as she emerged from the needles. It's a really fun way to work.






She's knit from yarn that I bought in Japan (I don't remember what the yarn company was) that was originally knit into most of a raglan sweater, and her scarf is leftover Noro Silk Garden from another sweater that I have since frogged most of...

Her younger brother/sister (not sure yet, I've got the head, arms, and most of the body done but a personality hasn't really come out yet) is rapidly on the way... I'm thinking of seeing if these little critters are able to sell, but I don't know if I can let go of another one. I might have to keep this next one, and then consider sending them to good adopted homes!
