I need help again :P

So...I've moved on to knitting and I need a lot of help :)




I am starting from scratch...I went to Jo-Ann's the other day to buy materials for the screen-printing tutorial (which isn't working out as well as I'd hoped because I'm stupid). Now, I had some money left over and decided to buy some kniting needles and some yarn. I had no money for books and what not and I figured I could learn how online...yah. That turned out to be harder than expected, but I found out how and I've started to knit a black and gold scarf and I'm trying to finish it by november. However, I have the feeling that I'm ont doing this right at all. One website that I went to said that the knit stitch (I'm planning on doing the whole scarf in knit because I'm lazy...and frankly both purl and knit look the same to me 0_0) has a "v" type pattern. I'm sorta getting a "v" pattern (about every two lines) and every third line is a "u" or something. Please, please someone help! Is this how it's supposed to look like?? Am I doing something wrong?
