Birdy ornaments
Oct. 14th, 2006 01:48 amIt was a few weeks ago now I think that someone posted the most darling little raven bird plush for her trade buddy.
It gave me the greatest idea to make ornaments for my Xmas tree. When i moved out, I never got to pick out too many things for my home. This year I'll be prepared!
I made kind of a how to with pictures for those interested. It's really simple though so Level 1 in easy.
Start with the supplies. I got the three colors I wanted to work with and some simple silk ribbon.

Next, I cut out the shape I wanted out of an index card. I traced 2 out of the craft felt.

I then cut out two pieces for the tail and stitched them uptogether - stiches showing because I like that design sometimes. The orange chalk lines are to show front/back for me.

I turned the bird inside out and started from the tail up around the back (added the ribbon) continued around the head and down the body. I left the area under the tail open to reverse it and stuff it. Then I stiched it up.

It turned out like so.
And then I got carried away and made more! :D I like the wings on the two toned one.

I wanted to say THANK YOU! to the one person who posted the raven. Such a lovely idea!! Have fun making more of these guys. I think I might make custom ones for my co-wokers with their names embroidered for xmas. . .
