Oct. 18th, 2006 08:56 amIt's been a long time since I posted anything (heck I can't even remember the last time I had posted). I got a laminated cabinet for free which I am currently painting as per hubby's request. I was happy to leave it alone but it was his idea to paint it. After sanding and using gesso as a primer, it's starting to look pretty good in my own opinion.

It's not finished yet. But it's getting there. It's done in acrylic paints and so far has been sticking rather well (I was worried because of the laminate).
I have a toddler and 3 cats at home and want to give it some really good protection. Not so much because of the cats, but because my son loves to color with crayons and nothing is safe, not even the TV (I've already had to clean crayon off that)!!I just can't decide what type of sealant to use. The spray stuff or the stuff you brush on. I've had pretty good results with the brush on polyurethane, but that was on previously unfinished furniture that I had painted on. Being that it was laminated previously, does that limit my options?
I have never worked on something that was laminated before, so this is a first. What would work better in sealing it? What has worked best for you?
Thanks in advance!
