Chef pants & speedball inks
Nov. 2nd, 2006 11:41 amMy goal is to make chef pants with a skull & crossbones print on them. Unfortunately, I do not have a sewing machine. I would just buy them if I could find them, but alas! So, do you think it would work to stencil the design onto pre-made chef pants (either 100% cotton or a poly-cotton blend) using speedball screenprinting ink?
I've stenciled with speedball ink before but only on a tshirt, which does not take nearly the abuse that chef pants do. I've also only done black on light fabric (project photo below!), where as these pants would be white ink on black fabric. Anyone have any experience or suggestions on this? Do you think the ink could handle having hot grease spilled on it and being washed and dried constantly? If it seems like an ok idea, then does it matter if it's pure cotton or cotton-poly?
Thank you for your help!
