craftgrrl | BeJewler Crystal Fire - Hot Fix Swarovski Crystals

I need help. I bought Crystal Innovations Bejewler Crystal Fire to apply Hot Fix Swarovski Crystals to my daughter's skating dress. I went to use it tonight and I didn't have any luck. I plugged it in and let it heat up. But when I tried to stick the crystal to the dress it wouldn't come out of the tip of the heat tool. I thought maybe the crystal was lacking adhesive so I poked it out and tried again. Again no luck. I was using 4mm crystals and the 4 mm tip. Has anyone ever used this thing successfully?

I don't think I have the receipt to return it anymore. Any advise on adhesive to stick the flat back crystals to the dress if I can't get the heat tool to work?
