Help!

Okay, I got the treadle going, but now it's doing something strange. After, several days of fiddling with the bobbin thread and finally being informed that it makes a difference whether it's clockwise or counter, I finally got it to work. Now it's doing something strange. It won't make stitches. They're coming through just fine and it's going through the motions, but the thread isn't actually being sewn into the fabric. What's going on? What do I do?
