Cheap retro room?

craftgrrlhmm, what can i do to fill up the space on my wall besides painting? My mom feels me painting designs on my wall will either make me do a mistake and just paint it over, or make a big mess everywhere.
I'm trying to do a kinda retro feel. Around maybe the 40s and 50s also, I have no job, so anything cheap I can get?
