A few weeks ago I asked if anyone had a pattern for a knitted cowboy boot slipper that I could give to my grandfather for his 80th birthday.  I had to develop my own patern and I'm still tweaking it for future versions, but it is finally finished! Well, almost. I still have to sew on the felt (sprayed with plasti-dip to be slip- and water- resistant) for the outer sole. I put some cushy fabric on the inside so it's nice and comfy.  Also, for presentation at his party later today, I picked up a cheap box from Hobby Lobby and personalized it for him.

First, the box:

I realize the lettering is crappy, but I can live with it. The letters on top are his initials and the box is lined with the same cushy fabric the insoles of his slippers are made from. You can't see the glitter on the letters (both on top and inside the lid), but it is there.

And now the boots:
As usual, they look MUCH better in person. And here's a shot of my very patient boyfriend's lower extremity encased in one of them:
and another...

and one more for the road...

Overall I am pleased with the results, though if I had more time (a common knitter's lament) I would probably make a few improvements. Still, for a first shot at design I think it's pretty good. And my granfather will love them, which is the most important part. Of course now my boyfriend says his slippers aren't as comfy as those...sigh... models can be so demanding!
