Two projects for the price of one!!!

The hat was done this weekend off my own pattern. Black acrylic yarn body, chunky 'homespun' yarn makes the hawk. Everything accept the flaps were done on 4 double point needles in the round. Standard 1x1 K/P rib stitch.
About the only thing I would do differently in the future would be knitting a bit more on the straight in the main 'band' around the head before I began reducing the stitches since it's a bit short in the front & back. It works well for me since I have bangs and this way I won't get smushed hat head bangs when I wear it.
And now for Mimi:

(Mimi lit up)
She started out her life as one of those clear glass display heads picked up at the thriftstore for $6.00.
Most of those heads have threads on the bottom so I figured she would turn easily into a lamp. A standard ceiling mount light kit with little screws to hold on the glass dome was found in the proper diameter at the hardware store along with a wheel light switch kit. The two were wired together and voila! She currently has one of those red silicone covered lightbulbs in her (which BTW gives off some wierd goo when they're lit. Mimi gets an oily residue inside her noggin when she's lit for any periods of time.) She currently is resting on a pad of felt to keep her metal base from scratching the metal filing cabinet she's on.

Side view of the hat.
I may post a pattern for this, but since I winged it and am unfamiliar with alot of knitting lingo I'm not sure how coherent they'll be.
Bye now!
