Long time lurker, first time poster.
Feb. 25th, 2007 10:04 amI love this community. I first found it about a year or so ago (I think). I knew I always wanted to craft, but the thing is I just kept all my ideas on the backburner for a while, since I was still obsessing over computers, graphic and web design. But then around October last year, I started buying paints and stuff, thinking that I'd make myself something from salt dough (I can just not find polymer clay or sculpey around this place, and I can't buy online cause of my parents). I ended up trying and making three pendants, but then I pushed the idea aside. Then I asked about our old sewing machine (which only had a straight stitch) and found out that mom got it fixed. I tried it out and made a hoodie with the help of a tutorial, then it started from there. Haha, I drafted patterns myself, made dresses and bags, etc, and my aunt lent me her sewing machine. So now I'm happy. But it's got nothing to do with what I'm posting now haha.
I've been crafty a lot in the past, but this is what I did lately--actually this weekend.
I painted my shoes. I got them during a field trip of sorts for about P250 [That's Philippine Peso, I'm from the Philippines. In dollar that'd be around...$5]. The only thing about them that annoyed me was that they didn't fit me perfectly...oh, and they had these garter things crisscrossing for the straps and they killed my feet. So I cut them off and painted them, to make them cool. :D I got the idea from craftster.
I'm pretty proud of them! This is just like..the first time I ever tried to paint something like this. I always told myself I couldn't paint haha. Tell me what you think. :D
