"Glass" Etching..

Someone recently was asking about etching on ceramics and that made me think of a project. I have a water bottle that is basically the size of a 1 liter pepsi bottle. It was that carbonated water stuff and the clear plastic label was easy to remove. My questions are will etching solution work on plastic( I still have some:)) and since its basically an acid will it weaken the bottle and make it unusable. Keep in mind that I am rather rough wuth my things. Thanks!!



My bottle is almost like this one except the sides are flat.
