cross posted to knitting
I was working on my first knitted toy ever at work (I work on my university's newspaper as Graphics Editor). While I was knitting away at what will soon be the lil horsey butt of Horace the Germantown Horse one of my co-workers said "Is that one of your grandma things?" referencing back to when I told her my husband and I are like an old married couple because we don't like going out and about on the weekends despite being in our early 20s. I immediately was taken aback. A "grandma thing"? I repeatedly assured her knitting is most certainly NOT a "grandma thing". The whole situation got me thinking about the fact that a lot of people don't really realize how wonderful, fun, rewarding, and thereputic knitting can be. So I've decided to try and write a story for the paper about just how hip and helpful knitting can be. I decided the best place to start would be here, since I know how many wonderful things everyone here has knitted. I want to title the article "Knitting is indeed a bitchin' hobby"
Also let me clear up-there is nothing wrong with things being associated to grandma's..grandmas are awesome. But my problem is that it's widely associated with old ladies, especially in a southern city like I live in and it's not just an old lady thing, people of all ages and genders do it.
So this is what I'm asking, I'd like you guys to fill out a little survey with some info and provide some pictures of some of the least granny things you've made. :)
Gender:
Age:
When you started really knitting:
Approx. how many things you've knitted:
Favorite thing to knit:
Bitchinest thing you ever knit:
Also if anyone knows where I can get a lot of responses from men knitters let me know :)
If you answered on knitting you don't need to answer again :)
If this isn't appropriate feel free to remove you wonderful mods you :)
