Jewelry question

I bought a pair of black metal angel wing earrings, and I am trying to convert them to be part of a necklace.  I want them to not hang down like an earring, but to spread like bird wings on the necklace.  How do I make a hole in the tip of the wing?  I was thinking about hammering a small nail through it, but is there a better way?  Or could hot gluing a jumpring to the end serve the same purpose?  I am concerend that maybe the hot glue would not be sturdy enough... Or, does anyone know of where I could get wings like this already done?  Thank you!
