High Heel Repair

I have a handful of heels that I just adore and cannot part with just yet. The only problem is that the little protector on the end (the part that touches the ground) came off on some of these. I was wondering if anyone here had an idea of how I could reconstruct those little caps instead of having to go to a shoe repair shop. It needs to be a material that can be shaped in some way and yet durable enough to walk on and get a lot of use.
