Crochet help!?

I'm not sure if this is allowed or not buttt I'll try anyways.

So I've started crocheting a scarf, of the Harry Potter variety the actual stitches look fine but for the life of me I cannot get the edges to stay even and I don't know what I'm going wrong.

Any tips on how to get things even?
