lots of FOs yay
Jun. 11th, 2007 02:36 pmtons of free time at home and too hot to go outside = lots of time spent crocheting and knitting!

fat bottom bag from stitch n bitch happy hooker
i used a skein and a bit of another of paton's classic merino and an H hook. this is the first lined purse i've made and i don't think i did all that great of a job with the lining... it's crooked on the sides and pleated strangely... but it's on the inside so nobody needs to see it except me! i'm really happy with it other than that. i think i'd like to make one in a more summery color... in cotton with bamboo handles.

unseamly sweater from stitch n bitch happy hooker
this sweater was a huge pain. it was the first sweater i made... i finished it a long time ago but i don't like it so i never posted it. i thought it would be an easy start because there are so few seams to it, but i had to frog it and start over three times before i got it right... i ended up using an N hook for the foundation chain, a J hook for the body, and a K hook for the sleeves... took a long time to figure that out! i used some cheapish baby acrylic yarn that feels nice but i think looks weird for this design. i really like the look of the sweater, but not really as it is. i'd like to make it again with some alterations... the seed stitch waist shaping takes it in too far to be comfortable so i'd like to keep it in v-stitch for the whole body portion. i like the look of the seed stitch on the sleeves but the sleeves need to be wider and shorter, i think. *sigh*

market bag
i used the market bag pattern from the lion brand website... the one that calls for cotton-ease. i used 7 balls of the more cost-effective sugar n cream yarn in the key lime colorway. at least i think that's what it is called. i love love love this bag... i use it to tote around my many works in progress. it stretches to hold an absurd amount of stuff. i'm also making one for my sister and my mom now that they've seen mine. ^_^

fetching fingerless mitts from knitty.com
those fingerless gloves that every knitter made months and months ago... i finally got around to learning to knit and making my own. lion brand wool ease on size 6 bamboo dpns. never ever again will i knit on aluminum dpns! i like them, they're cute, but it seems like they don't really serve any purpose except to be cute. i think i'd like to step it up and try the knucks pattern for actual fingerless gloves next.

ravenclaw scarf - atypicallyknit pattern
this is my second stab at this... the first time i started i didn't do a gauge swatch and ended up with a scarf 16 inches wide... this time i switched to size 8 12" circs and it is ending up a much more manageable 10ish inches wide. just starting the 4th trapped bar now... i'm a long way off, but i just restarted last week.
that's all! thanks for looking ^_^
