I am trying to do a mold of my child's footprint. You know the one with the plaster.

THe problem is she is only 6 weeks old so she moves around a lot.

I have the mixture and she is suppose to put her feet in it for 60 secs..it will harden I can take the foot out.

Then after one day the mold hardens completely and I can use it. I pour plaster into it and then the plaster dries and I pull off the mould and have a foot print.

the problem is is because she moves around so much the mixture never settles

This is similar to the jewellery and resin casting.... you know you press the shape of the charm into the polymer clay, you bake the clay then you have the mould. you can pour stuff into it left it dry and now you have the duplicate.

So I was thinking..can i use polymer clay and get my child to step into it..then bake it....then I will have the mould then I can fill it in with plaster?

But the amount of polymer clay used is quite a lot..and expensive..so I was thinking....how about using..flour +water + salt..and make the flour clay mixture. Sure it may not last long but it is a lot cheaper....and it dries by itself. When my child steps on it it will easily take her foot shape and then it will dry and I can fill it with plaster.

yes?? no??

I don't know what else to do. The moulding stuff given is too watery and my 6 weeks old baby can't stay still that long

thanks everyone
