fun like a many-hued beast
Jun. 24th, 2007 04:37 amOhmigosh! I finally made something out of a medium besides fleece or felt? Craziness!
They're *are* still "stuffed", though. Curious?

I had yet another wedding reception this weekend, and wanted to continue my trend of making something silly and personalized for the bride and groom. When I told her that I was going to make these for her, she LOVED the idea. It's time for craft-math, ya'll! Ready?
These:

+ this:

= homemade cascarones:

A little history:
"Cascarones are Colorful Mexican confetti egg shells. Throughout Mexico and the American Southwest, Cascarones are used to celebrate. The fun is derived from breaking the egg over someone’s head, allowing the confetti to spill out. Many say that the colorful confetti shower brings luck and good fortune to those to whom an egg is broken over their head"
ACTION SHOT!

They ended up being a big hit with the kids and were really fun to make. I put together a photo tutorial here with pretty pictures and descriptions of the process in case anyone is in the mood to make party favors or just take out their aggression on a whole bunch of eggs...slooooowly. ;)

Man, anything else I end up making now is going to be boring after this. :)
