My boyfriend is another country because of work and I'm stuck at home in a new town. In order to do something other than mope around, I've decided to make my daughter a quilt - since I've been wanting to redo her room and had been considering buying a new comforter. I made a quilt once - Trip Around The World and I remember that being insanely easy, though pretty fun. This time I'd like to try someting a bit more challenging and time-consuming just so that it occupies me for awhile and so I feel REALLY proud. I've tried googling free patterns and I'm really not having a lot of luck. I find a lot of free BLOCKS but I have no clue how to figure out yardage and other stuff. I want to make something traditional but with really cool fabric so that from a distance it looks classic and old fashion, but up close, it looks really neat.
I'm looking for suggestions and websites that sell fabric and patterns, or have free patterns, as well as websites that offer good tutorials on different aspects of the process. There are a LOT of websites on quilting out there and it's really overwhelming, so please share your favorites!
Also, if you have any quilts you've made, I would LOVE to see them! I really have no clue what I want to do yet and I feel pretty lost.
