Skirt and Lunch Bag, Belt Question
Jun. 26th, 2007 11:07 pmI finished my "what was I thinking?" skirt today. This was an idea I had after I cut skirt pieces that ended up being too small. It was based on a dress I had seen sewn from mens' ties. I didn't have a pattern for this, and I'm not very knowledgable in sewing (just got my machine last week, though I have made clothing in the past.) So with that in consideration, I say it turned out pretty well. Only one weird spot where it hangs.
The other thing pictured is a tshirt I turned into a lunch bag. Or I guess it could be a grocery bag as well. Recycling! I used the same fabric. My grandmother was letting me go through her fabrics before they left to donation land and I nabbed it.

Oh hey, I also made the yellow and orange bracelet come to think of it (it's yellow jade and Swarovski. And the bamboo post in the first photo.)
My husband decided to collect all his beer bottle caps and now we have quiet an impressive collection. I wanted to make belts out of them like the ones I can't afford from Little Earth. For the belt itself, I was thinking about using webbing and those clips you see on bookbags. I'm not sure the name, looks like this. Any suggestions for how to attach the bottle caps? I seem to remember other bottle cap belts where there was some sort of "tack" nailed through the center of the cap and belt. I have drill if you think that'll work (would I need to buy a special bit for that?)
Thanks!
