Horror Chest
Jul. 14th, 2007 04:54 pmI decoupaged this jewelry box three years ago. It was glued and painted in the kitchen and lived there for a long time until my mother got tired of it sitting in the kitchen, and I moved it up to my room, unfinished. I've since been using it, and fearing wear and tear after three years, I finally decided to touch up the paint and give it a good coat of protective varnish. And a craftgrrl post, of course.
All the images came from old issues of Fangoria and Nickelodeon magazines. It's painted in acrylics and glued with modge podge. The dripping blood is red glass paint, and the black flowers were, I believe, just done in sharpie. It used to have a cherry-like finish. There is a picture of what it originally looked like deep, deeeep in my image folders, but you can imagine, can't you?
If I were covering it today, I would incorporate a little Pinhead and Regan MacNeil and cover the front doors more like the top and sides. I could do a cleaner paint job now, too, but I like it just the same. ^_^
