[identity profile] chocophilosophy.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] craftgrrl
I've made a lot of stuff in the past year and I haven't posted any of it. Sooo I guess this is a MEGA-POST.
TONS of pictures ahead.

Jewelry Box
I was flipping through a PBTeen catalogue, and I thought it'd be nice to have a little drawer-y thing to keep on my desk. So I went to Goodwill and found this piece of junk for $6.35. It was originally just plain dark stained wood and a sort of velvety dark red stuff on the inside. It was kinda gross. So I fixed it up. Took me a few days... sanded, primed, painted with like three coats, sprayed with clear, and then I did the fabric.

Yeah it's green.

Those thingies flip down for rings/whatever.

Close-up of the fabric.

Drawers!

Close-up, again.

Top thingy.

Wall Art
I love Anthropologie. I don't buy anything there (ridiculous prices), but I go in and look. I saw this art on the walls made out of little paper fry containers. I was like WHOA, I have some of those at home! So I took a picture, and replicated it at home. I painted on the outside of the fry things though (at Anthropologie, they were painted neon yellow on the inside).

Hahaha recognize the green? I used the green wall paint for the jewelry box.

I just fit them together and stapled/taped em.

Wham!

Lamp
This one was inspired by a post on Craftster. A girl made lamp shades out of plastic beads. First I went to Goodwill and got a cheapy lamp (it was like, brand new), and then to Wal-Mart for a cheapy lamp shade. I covered the lamp shade in foil, melted the beads in the oven to make panels, stuck them onto the lampshade and to eachother, and then glued the little metal piece on the inside of the lampshade that attaches to the lamp. I used green beads, multicolored beads, and glow-in-the-dark beads. Now, because they're right next to a light bulb, after I turn the lamp off at night in the dark, it glows for a good 10-20 minutes!
Oh I painted the lamp base too.

The little pull-piece is a horseshoe... love it.

I tried getting a picture of it in action... it's a lot brighter than that, trust me!

Dog Magnets
I am so obsessed with the Aranzi Aronzo book, The Cute Book. My favorite pattern is Terry the Terrier. So, for a few days in a row, all I did was sit around and make a bunch of these little dogs. The best thing I could come up with to do with them was make them into magnets. They all chill out on my white board now.

The gang.

Orange dog.

Thanks for looking :D

I'm starting college this Fall, and I'm wondering how I'm going to be crafty in a wee little dorm. Anybody else make stuff in their dorm?
