A couple of months ago, I went to a yard sale that had a whole jug full of guitar picks (all the same design: George Harrison's signature with an om symbol). I bought three of them (a total of 75 cents).

I didn't know what I wanted to do exactly, but I knew I'd be making earrings and a necklace.

Well, Friday night, I whipped the earrings together with a simple hook earring and chain and some jump rings.

I also went ahead and punched three holes into the third pick to make the necklace.

Saturday morning, my family went on a road trip the the St. Louis zoo. We live in Illinois, so it was a bit of a drive, but I wasn't bored because I had a necklace to make. So, on the drive, I worked slowly and carefully and put together this lovely thing:

I used several leftover bits of chain from different projects, a leftover crystal teardrop from some ugly earrings I disassembled and some seed beads and it became one of my favorite jewelry creations ever.

I just wish I would have bought more of the picks, so I could have made more to sell to some hardcore Harrison fans. But at the same time, I'm really pleased to have one-of-a-kind work.
