crocheted bobble brimmed hat
Jul. 26th, 2007 09:49 pm

pattern: i used the pattern from this japanese site. the charted pattern is available there, and there's also a transcribed pattern on craftster.
yarn: almost all of one skein of sinfonia sportweight mercerized cotton in black. so about 200m/218yd.
hook: E hook
notions: none
time spent making: about a day, on and off while watching tv
pattern modifications: none
the hooker's two cents: so i saw this hat on the craftster forums and fell in love with it. i had been looking at brimmed beanies on etsy, but done in solid sc, not in bobble stitch. i had thought that bobbles were not really my style, but done in the sportweight yarn they aren't as puffy as i thought. i love the variegated yarn that the pattern used, but i had this cotton lying around and it worked perfectly. i think i'll be making this hat again... perhaps in wool for winter? it's a bit big on me... next time i will likely change one of the even bobble rows at the bottom edge to another decrease bobble row so that there are two rows of decreases.
thanks for looking ^_^
