etsy shop questions

i am a fairly avid crafter and i have been thinking about selling some stuff, although right now, i usually jsut make stuff for myself and as gifts.  i know a lot of people here have etsy shops and i was wondering how you felt about them or those of you that shop on etsy.  is it bad if i'm not that productive?

any tips or experiences would be helpful!

on another note: how much of a piece do you feel you have to have made to call it your own?  like, if you did a reconstruction?  a lot of my stuff is like that but it looks totally different from the original but my brothers make fun of me and say that i'm not allowed to say "i made it"
