early birthday card
Aug. 8th, 2007 10:01 amthe gift i ordered for my boyfriend's 26th birthday – a new bike – came yesterday, almost a month early. so rather than let it sit around and collect dust for a month, i decided to give it to him early, since the weather has been so beautiful for biking.
then i realized i didn't even have a card yet.
so i ran out on my lunch break and bought the biggest red bow i could find, and some paper and sparkly pens from the art supply store to make a card. printed up some images and put the card together covertly in my office when no one was looking...

the base is a metallic card stock, and the red is a beautiful hand-dyed Tibetan paper. I used an image of the bike path he takes to work everyday, small images of each of us, and the wonderful pic of a monkey on a bike (he loves the monkeys). the skull design was borrowed from another craftgrrl (cause i love it so much, hope you don't mind). tedious though it be, i love cutting letters out of the newspaper ^_^.
The envelope is vellum, with more of the TIbetan paper and an image of this cool art nouveau bike shop poster i found online. its all much more sparkly in person.
He was pretty excitied =D
(and best of all, because i was so early, he hadn't a clue what was coming!)
