A tale of two sewing machines
Aug. 21st, 2007 09:03 pmI've had a basic machine for eight years. A nice machine, a real workhorse, that is just not performing as well as she used to. The local dealer I bought her from is no longer selling or servicing her kind, and more and more often I'm having problems that, at the best slow me down, and at the worst, mess up a project.
Now, I don't want to put her out to pasture totally. But the other day at Target, the lovely Shark Intelli-Sew - 9110 caught my eye:

Now, I'm a bit of a machine snob, but my SIL has an entry level Shark and has been pleased with it. I like the idea of some extra bells and whistles. Methinks she might be a nice addition to my sewing stable.
But then, I see online for the same price, the Brother SE270D. http://www.brother-usa.com/Homesewing/ModelDetail.aspx?ProductID=SE270D

Yowza. I have always dreamed of am embroidery machine. It would be nothing more than a big toy, really, but wow, what a toy. Embroidery AND regular sewing. This changes things.
So, my question is, do any of you have one of these charming machines, and what do you think? Or, heck, even if you don't, what do you think?
