sewing type things
Aug. 27th, 2007 09:01 amSome embroidery, purse making, and a pillow for your enjoyment.
This was just a plain green skirt until I hit it up with some Sublime Stitching. :D

And a close-up because my camera skills are lacking.

If you can't tell much about it, the outline of the wings are done in a soft purple using a six-strand embroidery floss with the split-chain stitch. The inside of the wings are done with three strands of embroidery floss using a backstitch in a light purple. The body of the butterfly is a satin stitch in silver, the atennae are silver split-chain stitch with french knots on the ends. :)
Next, I made a little bag with help from here and a fabric flower that I learned about here

I didn't do an inside shot because I mucked it up lol. I am also entirely too lazy to take the entire thing back apart just to fix it. But you can see a hint of the stripey insides. Later I went back and did a couple rows of stitching around the top edge for lovliness and to help hold the lining in. I also did edging on the outsides of my closing flap (which wasn't in the tutorial, I added it at the last minute).
I had a sick day on Friday (damn sinuses), and I stitched together this pillow. I had found the fabric in the remnant bin at wal-mart for 80 cents. My husband and I love veggietales so ...here is a veggietales pillow.

That is all. I have to start writing a chapter a week on my thesis (about 15 pages a week) until mid-october. So there shan't be much crafting. I am doing a bit of crocheting, cross-stitching, and tatting in my spare time.. wait.. what spare time. I mean breaks to keep myself from going insane. o.O
