help wit etching

craftgrrlI followed the picture tutorial from the FAQ. however, after the glass was dry, nothing and i mean NOTHING showed up.
we rinsed off the etching cream while the vinyl was still on. we waited 7 min for the cream to work. then we peeled off the vinyl. then we used window cleaner to wash off the glass.
help?
