How do you describe what you do?

I'm curious because the term 'craft' still seems to conjure up images of doilies in my experience. I visited some galleries on the weekend and my partner and I spoke to one of the curators about a craft and zine fair we are organising and you could see the eyes glaze over when the word craft was mentioned...

should we be calling it textile art? something else?
