Art Dolls

Anyone have suggestions for tutorials/books/magazines for art dolls? My goddaughter is interested in learning how tomake them. What she had in mind was a wire armature covered in muslin and padded out, but with faces/hands/feet sculpted of polymer clay. She's a bit afraid of doing hands, though, so does anyone know a source for various sizes/positioned/ hands? Oh, and eyes. Where can she find realistic glass eyes for dolls? She's thinking 12" to 18" tall.
