Mini books O:
Oct. 11th, 2007 12:43 pmI had been tempted to try out making a book for a while now, and I actually made two of them last week - and was just too busy lazy to upload them til now.
I couldn't get any really good shots of the first one - or at least none that really got the proper color of the cover. D:

I got this nifty pack of index card sized, funky-ly decorated, papers at a craft store and have been looking for something to do with them. So I decided that they'd be the perfect size to make little books out of - about 4.5 x 6.5. I'm not sure what stitch I used on the signatures of the book anymore, it was from a tutorial that I found off of a different community.
The first one came out OK - the signatures are crooked and I actually couldn't fit all the signatures in that I had originally made. I did a considerable amount of swearing trying to keep the thread from tangling up as I tried to loop it through the little holes. I swore in my head though - the roommate didn't have to endure my bad language.
The second one though, I went all out on. I aged the pages and everything. But I didn't have tea to stain them with, so I made a concoction of brown and yellow paint, diluted in water. It actually left an almost copper-y residue on the paper, although it left a more poo-y looking color on my hands. D:

Instead of the funky little papers I used on the other one (which, quite obviously wouldn't coordinate so well with "aged" paper) I used part of a sheet of scrapbooking paper along with a sheet of card stock for the cover, and after I put the inside "lining" on the cover, it actually thickened up enough to make a tough little cover. I also figured out much, much better ways of putting the cover on, and getting my pages straight and made considerably fewer mistakes than last time.
