I found the pattern!
Oct. 29th, 2007 08:42 pmYAY XD
So anyways. It's a really old vogue pattern I found in the thrift store for 99 cents! Happiness! I had been looking/being lazy for a marching band jacket pattern to alter for me and a friend, and was super scared it was going to be too expensive, but then the thrift store saved the day xO
It's a really loose jacket, with slouched shoulders, which could pose sort of a problem, because I need to put shoulder tab thingies on one of the jackets. I don't know what the tabs are called, but it's military style. Would putting the tabs on anyway be a good idea?
And also...the other one needs to have striped sleeves. I've helped with some quilting for another friend, and I think I could sew the strips together, to make up the original, solid pattern piece, then just sew the sleeve to the jacket like in the directions. Good idea? Bad idea? I really don't want to try to find striped twill...not a happy thought.
I've already decided to use white binding tape for the stripes on front, and my friend is going to try to provide the buttons for her own jacket. For the front stripes, should I use wonder under, or hand sew them? I think I should sew them, but I dunno... And no, I'm putting a zipper in it instead of making the buttons functional. So...many...buttons...-die-
I think there's 49 on mine XDDD
Yup. I'mma gonna die.
Anyways. Here's what I'm trying to make...or something very close to it.

The one in the very middle, and the one with striped sleeves. The pattern has no collar to it, but I can add that easy...
I'm just really intimidated, so any tips/warnings/random comments of encouragement will be greatly loved XD
EDIT.
This is as close a picture I can find to what my pattern looks like. The blue jacket, only the corners of the collar are higher (making it easier to add the tab collar), and I'll skip the pockets I think. And on this, the shoulders are more fitted...think lounge pants fitting for the real pattern.
