Costume: Can-Can Girl
Nov. 1st, 2007 02:52 pmDuring my senior year, I finally had my sewing machine with me and a great excuse to make a costume for Halloween.

I used McCall's Pattern 3674. You can't see it very well, but the lining is blue, matching the tulle and bloomers. First full-costume I've made, and never before have I used that much tulle. I had an interesting experience with using boning too--I followed the directions and used the zipper foot, but my stitching was...less that straight. It was very difficult to keep everything in line, and next time I think I will make a sleeve and slip the boning in before sewing it together.
The pattern itself was very easy to follow, and I received lots of compliments. I wish I had more photos of the construction! My tiny dorm was draped in blue and black fabric for a week. :)
