Glue question

craftgrrlSo, I'm sewing buttons onto a canvas bag.
But no matter how I knot the thread on the back, it keeps coming loose. Is there a good, quick-drying glue that I can use to just drip a teeny bit onto my knots to secure them more?
ETA: Thanks so much for all the info! I headed out to Joanne's and found some craft formula Krazy Glue (complete with 'craft fragrance' whatever that is, lol). A little dab on the knots seems to be doing the job, though it does make the going a bit slow. Thanks again!
