I'm new here! My name is Shannon and I love crafts, especially yarn crafts. (Knitting, crochet, etc.) I like cats, theater, and long walks on the beach.

So I learned how to crochet, FINALLY. (I taught myself! I'm so proud!) And I also learned how to make a hat! And I'm REALLY excited, because I love hats but I'm cheap and don't want to spend 40 dollars on a nice hat that I could totally make myself ifIonlyknewhow...anyway. Here is the hat:

Isn't it cute? Haha, it's so simple, all of you experienced crafters are probably like "Yeah...so what? I MAKE TEN OF THOSE HATS IN MY SLEEP"* but I think it's adorable. Teehee.

However, I have a question...I looked in the memories but could not find an answer, so my apologies if it's been asked before.

So I have a tiny issue with my hat. It seems to be crocheted in a spiral, and therefore the end comes out unevenly. Is this the way it always works? I'm planning on making a ton of these hats for Christmas/Hannukah/Holiday gifts this year, and I just want to make sure that I get it right before handing out all of these hats with a stupid mistake in them.

See how it's uneven? (And why yes, I DID leave a pen in the washing machine/drier! How ever did you guess???)

Is there any solution to this? Where am I going wrong? Is it just how it works?

I have been following this pattern, if that helps at all.

*I'm just kidding, all of you girls seem very sweet. :D
