beyond cut out paper hearts

be asked to decorate a large area (walls and such) with things that represent heart & love for kids WITHOUT looking too Valentiney, what would ya do?

So far I have puzzle idea but beyond that I'm lost.

Any bright ideas smarty pants-zes?
