totes and purses
Dec. 17th, 2007 10:12 amHello, everyone.
I made totes and purses for my friends for Christmas. All are made, in one way or another, from clothes.
This is my first one I've made. The b/w houndstooth looking cloth was a skirt I wasn't fond of, and the pink was from a shirt I bought at some Mexican used clothing store (Ropa Usada) where we get to get as many clothes we can for $0.15/lb. My friend is into punk, so I made the heart cross-boned wanna-be onto the kanga pockets. I was gonna put "LUV ROX" on the other side, but I ran out of patience. I hand-sewn this.
This one is for my punk friend's sister. Totally opposite. She likes girly looking things, so I made her this purse from a skirt that I DO NOT WANT my mom gave me. The strap is made from yarn I just crochet a chain.
Button detail. Sorry for the blurriness. Again, hand-sewn.
Finally I remembered to take a "before" pic, but I kinda slash the hem off already. A Canada shirt and a Nurse shirt.
Here is one side of the tote. . .
. . . here's the other. My cousin approves this tote! Yay! This is for my sister. She said she wants something to take to work (a nurse, can you tell?), so I made this using the Generation T book instructions. I love this tote. I'm thinking of making one for myself. . . after Christmas. I finally got to use a sewing machine on this one, so it was a lot faster. I hand-sewn the straps in, though.
This one is actually from scrap. My friend loves ladybugs, so I made this for her. The ladybug patch is made out of felt. Took a long time, and I kinda made a mistake on it. Hopefully no one notices. The pocket and lining were made out of this skirt I bought from Ropa Usada.
Here's my cousin showing off the purse.
Um, no. It's not a bib, silly! Even though it looks like it. At least you get to see the purse design. I made this before my sister's tote, so it was hand-sewn.
Arg! I forgot to take a before pic again! This was made from T-shirts, and it was the first time I used interfacing. My friend loves shoes and the color red, so I made this mini tote for her. The shoe patch took a while for me to get the pattern. I think it took 3 dorky looking sketches of shoes for me to realize I can look at my own shoes to get the design. *SLAPS FOREHEAD* Anyway, I got it down. I wish I can keep it cuz I love red/black combo, though I'm not a fan of shoes *oh noes!* lol.
What the shoe pattern looks like.
I think this is the closest pic that shows how the tote looks. Sadly, the pics don't do justice for what this tote actually looks.
Tried again. Nope. Still no justice. Oh, well.
Thanks for looking. I can be long winded in my descriptions.

Tried again. Nope. Still no justice. Oh, well. One of my friends is actually on LJ, so I'm trying my best to keep it from her. Also, my cousin is getting a purse, too. I have yet to make her one, but she lives with me, which makes it harder to keep from her.
