I finished my first ever rawhide drum!!! What a task. I used hints and tutorials from various internet sites.

The drum is very unique as the hoop is not wood, it's super thick wet formed vegtan leather. This is for a charity auction (Southwest Leather Conference) and the event logo is handpainted on one side..the other side is blank (purchaser could have someone paint an image on it, if desired)

The removable strap is tooled with the following:

I erect my drum, I assemble my friends. Aya! Here they find recreation, I make them sing. Thus we must go over There. Remember this. Be happy. Aya! Oh my friends! Ohuaya ohuaya!

It has a beautiful heart.

I also made a rawhide hand rattle.

The rattle is filled with chips of quarts crystal, amethyst, a shell, pieces of silver, sage and lavender. Silver and glass beads and bells decorate the rattle.
