Finished this weekend, yesterday to be exact, a very late Yule present for mah man.

Ok, so the kilt belt was a birthday pressie I made back in September, but the sporran was made to match it, so here they are together:

And now for the closeups:

The sporran.
Tooling grade leather back and front with carved 8 pointed star (done in the continuous style, with the over and the under.......I cursed alot during the carving process, but for only my second carving job ever, not too shabby)framed with some appliqué stitching (My first time. I like the way it looks. I anticipate putting it on everything). Sides are a dyed buckskin, all of the edges are trimmed in a 5/8" black Kangaroo lace using a triple loop lacing style. The sporran belt is just plain chain and more dyed tooling grade leather. I also backed it in some vinyl so it doesn't catch when worn.

The belt.
Pretty cut and dry. 3" strap leather with little skull & crossbones stamped in, alternating with 1/4" chrome screw in spikes, and bordered with decorative 'spots'. The only thing I would do differently on the whole set is put two rivets holding the belt's decorative o rings on, because with just one they move back and forth.

Took about 24-30 hours for the sporran.
About 5 hours for the belt.

Bye now!
