My dad's project
Feb. 27th, 2008 02:45 pmThis isn't one of my projects, but instead these are something my dad makes. I always thought they were so beautiful that I want to show them off a little bit for him. He makes lamps and plant stands out of diamond willow. For those who don't know, diamond willow is simply a pussy willow with a malformation in the wood that makes diamond shapes. When the bark is peeled off, these can be really quite pretty.
Here is my plant stand with a close up of the "diamonds" as well as my lamp he made under the cut:

He had once started on making a chair out of this stuff, but got really sick and the project never was finished. I always thought these would make a beautiful headboard and foot board for a natural bed. Finding branches big enough to span the width of the bed would be a challenge, but wouldn't it be neat?
