Hello all! Like many I've been reading for quite a while, don't think I've posted before though. :) My niece is turning one soon and I'm strapped on cash so I'm making her gift. I've made 28 fabric squares and I'm embroidering each with a letter of the alphebet (and a front and back page.)

Then I'm attaching them with a non toxic permanent fabric glue with some felt in the middle, and then doing some stitches around the side. In total I'll have 14 "pages" which I'm going to put eyelets in and put on a metal ring.

So the questions... the first is, I've been really careful to make sure I'm using materials that are non-toxic and washable. I went with the felt in the middle instead of some kind of batting to help it keep it's shape but will the felt be washable? (It's just your everyday craft felt from the craft store).

Second question is... the eyelets. I bought them from Fabricland and followed the instructions but they keep ripping the test fabric. Just your basic metal eyelet with a hole punch and a "tool" to finish the back. Any suggestions? I am testing through just one piece of fabric and the final product will have them going through two and the felt. Will that help?

Thanks guys. I'm so excited for this project!
